珈琲店のイブニングサービスって聞いたことありますか?

Have you ever heard about "evening service" at a cafe?

Probably not. I learned it only recently at a cafe named Hirono, which is located on the street between Yamanaka and Nagoya university.

"Morning service," is well known, which is very common in the Chubu district in Japan. It's originated in Ichinomiya. If you order any drinks like coffee, tea, hot milk, and so on, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., a slice of toast and a boiled egg come with it for free. What comes with the drink and the time slot differs from a cafe to another, though. That's why especially on holidays, coffee shops that offer "morning service" are packed with customers in the "morning service" period.

While I was at Hirono coffee shop the other day, I found out that the menu says evening service is offered from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m, which is the last call. During this time slot, you can have free refills of coffee or tea. The sandwich and hot coffee were what I paid for and the iced coffee was on the house (as evening service).

I had never heard of such service until then. Have you? If you're interested, why don't you stop by the Hirono coffee shop during the evening service period?
